Solo Awards

Autocross Awards

At the end of the season, we have an awards banquet where we give out our annual Solo awards. To be eligible for year-end awards you have to be an annual Milwaukee Region SCCA member before the last event.  If you already have another home region, you must become a dual member to receive a Milwaukee Region award.  Below are descriptions of the awards, as well as a list of all past recipients.

Fastest Driver of the Year

Awarded to the driver with the highest PAX/RTP points for the year. The recipient is awarded the traveling trophy with their name added, along with free entry into all of next season’s regional championship events.

Tony Machi Rookie of the Year

Awarded to the best rookie driver of the season. This is based highly on PAX/RTP finishing position, however, other intangibles such as volunteering time with the club, attitude, and displaying good spirit are included when selecting the award winner. Rookies cannot have run more than two Solo events in a previous year. The Rookie of the Year will receive the traveling trophy with name added, free entry into all of next season’s regional events, and a free entry to SCCA Solo Nationals the following year (if they choose to attend).

If you meet the requirements you are most likely driving in our Novice class, however, if you aren’t, drop us a line so we can make note, even if you don’t think your driving is where you think it should be, you might be surprised!

Dean Rhode Solo Service Award

Awarded to the person who made the most significant contribution to the Solo program for that year. We are a volunteer organization, without individuals dedicating their time to help run these events we wouldn’t be putting on some of the best events in the country, and we wouldn’t be enjoying the adrenaline rush. The winner receives the honor of being recognized by their peers, and the traveling trophy with their name added.

Earl Krause Hard Charger Award

This is awarded to the driver best exemplifying competitive spirit and dedication to the sport. Traveling half way across the country to attend national events, being the first person to lend a hand to your closest competitor, attending every local event possible to get more seat time, or long nights in the garage to build a new car. These are all great examples of what this award is about. The winner has their hard work recognized by their peers, and the traveling trophy with their name added.
