SUMMARY:SCCA Solo Nationals
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe SCCA Autocross National Championship – known as “Solo Nationals” – is where more than 1\,200 autocrossers come from across the country to compete and meet in one of the largest motorsports gatherings on the planet and the premier SCCA® autocross competition and social event of the year. \nTo crown a national champion in each class\, drivers get three runs each on two different courses with the fastest times from each course combined for the official results. This magnitude of drivers and runs takes four days to complete with half of the drivers running on Tuesday/Wednesday of the week and the other half running Thursday/Friday. Along the way drivers\, friends\, and crew enjoy a welcome party\, tailgating late into the night a practice course and two awards banquets. \nFor the autocrosser serious about speed or socializing\, the SCCA Solo Nationals is the ultimate destination. \nMost recently Solo Nationals calls Lincoln\, Nebraska home\, but it has more than forty-five years of history and multiple locations where many have come to hang out with fellow autocrossers and compete for a coveted “jacket” which signifies a national champion.

SUMMARY:SCCA RallyX Nationals
DESCRIPTION:SCCA RallyCross is a scaled-down version of a rally stage laid out on a non-paved plot of land where the course is delineated by traffic cones instead of trees or rocks. Participation requirements are considerably less than those associated with other forms of performance rally\, so drivers usually only need a mechanically sound\, hardtop vehicle and a helmet to come play in the dirt.\n\nThe site also features plentiful camping space as well as dedicated bathroom and shower facilities. The Western Ohio/Ohio Valley Regions have hosted outstanding post-race gatherings with plenty of complimentary barbeque and spirits on Saturday nights at National Tour events. Competitors can expect that level of hospitality and then some to continue for the National Championship.\nIf you are looking for more information head to our What is RallyCross? page and I Want to RallyCross for a list of  things you need to bring to an event and some tips to assist you along the way. \n

SUMMARY:2020 SCCA Runoffs
DESCRIPTION:Continuing the recent tradition of moving the Sports Car Club of America® annual National Championship to a different region of the country each year\, the SCCA® announced today that the Runoffs® will return in 2020 to Elkhart Lake\, Wisconsin\, and Road America‘s beautiful 4.048-mile\, 14-turn circuit.\n\nThe 57th SCCA National Championship Runoffs is scheduled to take place Oct. 5-11\, 2020\, at the storied track located midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay\, Wisconsin. The Runoffs last visited the Midwest in 2017 during a record-breaking event that included nearly 1\,000 entries and took place on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.\n\nPreviously\, the Runoffs called Road America “home” from 2009 to 2013\, noted SCCA Vice President/COO Eric Prill. Since the last Road America Runoffs\, the facility has continued to develop in multiple ways.\n\n“Some of the most memorable races in SCCA history have occurred at Road America\, a track that requires a blend of car performance\, skill and courage\,” Prill said. “We look forward to returning in the fall of 2020 to beautiful Elkhart Lake. From the new Paddock Shop to new restroom and shower locations\, and a new trail allowing access to fantastic spectating from The Kink to Canada Corner\, Road America continues to enhance the participant\, worker and fan experience.”\n\nMike Kertscher\, Road America’s Senior Vice President\, also noted the venue’s long history with the Sports Car Club of America®. The track has continually hosted the WeatherTech Chicago Region June Sprints since 1956\, an event that once helped determine SCCA Road Racing Champions prior to creation of the Runoffs. That makes the June Sprints one of the longest\, consecutively held road races in the United States.\n\n“The SCCA Runoffs symbolizes the true essence of sports car racing\,” Kertscher said. “Road America has hosted the SCCA Runoffs for many years and we are very pleased to see it return to America’s National Park of Speed at a time of year when the fall colors seem to dance around the beautiful race cars and the mild weather creates the perfect conditions for exceptional racing. The SCCA is one of the cornerstones of Road America’s history\, plus it is a great platform for amateur road racers and we are proud to be a part of the crowning of National Champions.”\n\nThe Runoffs\, which caps the Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Road Racing program each year\, has evolved into what is now commonly agreed to be the pinnacle of American motorsports. Since 1964\, the SCCA has crowned National Champions through the winner-take-all\, single race Runoffs format. Currently\, the Runoffs crowns national champions across 28 separate classes. Racing is preceded by a handful of test days\, followed by multi-day qualifying to identify Tire Rack Pole Award winners.\n\nWhile the SCCA looks forward to the 57th Runoffs at Road America in 2020\, racers are currently qualifying for the 2018 Runoffs being held for the first time ever October 16-21 at Sonoma Raceway in California. In 2019\, the Runoffs are scheduled to make a first-ever visit to VIRginia International Raceway October 8-13\, 2019\, at the venue located along the border of Virginia and North Carolina.\n\nAbout Sports Car Club of America:\nThe Sports Car Club of America®\, Inc.\, founded in 1944\, is a 67\,500-member motorsports organization that incorporates all facets of autocross\, rally and road racing at both Club and professional levels. With headquarters in Topeka\, Kansas\, the SCCA annually sanctions over 2\,000 events through its 116 Regions and subsidiary divisions. Much of the SCCA’s activities are made possible with support from the following Official Partners: Chevrolet\, the Official Truck of the SCCA; Hawk Performance\, the Official Brake Products of SCCA; Mobil 1\, the Official Oil of SCCA; Sunoco\, the Official Fuel of SCCA; and Tire Rack\, the Official Tire Retailer of SCCA. To learn more\, please visit www.scca.com.\n\nAbout Road America:\nEstablished in 1955\, Road America is located midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay in Elkhart Lake\, Wisconsin. The world’s best racers have competed at this legendary four-mile\, 14-turn road circuit for 60 years. The 640-acre\, park-like grounds offer amazing viewing opportunities\, fantastic concessions and high-speed excitement to hundreds of thousands of spectators each year. In addition to public race weekends\, Road America offers a variety of group event programs\, the CTECH Manufacturing Motorplex for karting and supermoto\, and the Road America Motorcycle and Advanced Driving Schools. SUMMARY:2019 SCCA Runoffs
DESCRIPTION:The Sports Car Club of America® has officially announced the 2019 SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® will be held October 8-13 at beautiful VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in Alton\, Virginia. This will be the very first time the Runoffs has been held at the sprawling venue located near the border of Virginia and North Carolina. \n“We’re thrilled to take amateur racing’s most prestigious event to one of the most beautiful and challenging racetracks in the country\, returning it to the Eastern United States for the first time since 2015\,” said Eric Prill\, SCCA Vice President & COO.  “The VIR visit continues SCCA’s current practice of moving the Runoffs to different locations around the country each year.  And with the amazing track\, facility and backdrop VIR offers\, we’re sure the Runoffs will be a ‘must-attend’ for our entire membership and racing fans alike in 2019\, and a fantastic way to cap SCCA’s 75th anniversary year.” \nRecognized as one of Car and Driver magazine’s top six road courses in the nation\, VIR draws thousands of spectators each year for some of the best road racing in the country. Its uphill Esses and sharp elevation changes not only make it a fan and driver favorite\, but VIR has also received international acclaim and rave reviews as one of the most exciting road courses in all of motorsports. \nConnie Nyholm\, VIR’s Owner and CEO\, noted that the track first opened in 1957 as one of the country’s first permanent road racing circuits. Recognizing greatness\, the 3.27-mile track — which will be used for the Runoffs — has remained exactly the same since\, with the only change being widening some places to offer safer run-off room. \n“I can’t tell you how excited we are to welcome the best amateur drivers in the U.S. for the 56th edition of the Runoffs\,” Nyholm said.  “SCCA sanctioned the very first race here\, and again in March 2000 when Harvey Siegel and I re-opened the resurrected VIR. Having the 2019 Runoffs will be an important part of VIR’s history.” \nThe first official event at VIR was an SCCA race that attracted stars like Carroll Shelby\, Carl Haas\, Bob Holbert\, Augie Pabst\, Don Yenko\, Dr. Dick Thompson and Walt Hansgen. The track became a fixture in SCCA racing and a favorite among racers due to its high-speed straights\, challenging turns and dramatic elevation changes.  Today\, the venue plays host to the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour\, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Pirelli World Challenge. \nWhile racing is the heart of VIR\, the expansive 1\,300-acre property is so much more. America’s first true “motorsport resort\,” it’s an entire vacation destination with a number of onsite hotel and lodging options. Within the property’s rolling hills and miles of lush forest\, guests can enjoy unique amenities such as the exclusive Driver’s Club\, dining options\, spa\, karting\, skid pad\, and even shooting sports. Located near Danville and South Boston\, Virginia\, the circuit is within 45 minutes of 1\,500 hotel rooms and 100 restaurants. Contact VIR at lodge@virnow.com or call (434) 822-7700 x101 for lodging assistance. \nThe Runoffs\, which caps the Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Road Racing program each year\, has evolved into what is now commonly agreed to be the pinnacle of American motorsports.  Since 1964\, the SCCA has crowned National Champions at the winner-take-all\, single race Runoffs format through dozens of separate races over three days.  In 2019\, there will be three days of qualifying\, followed by three days of racing. VIR joins Riverside (1964\, 1966\, 1968)\, Daytona International Speedway (1965\, 1967\, 1969\, 2015)\, Road Atlanta (1970-1993)\, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (1994-2005\, 2016)\, Heartland Motorsports Park (2006-2008)\, Road America (2009-2013)\, Laguna Seca (2014)\, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (2017) and Sonoma Raceway (2018) as Runoffs hosts.
